Two Tasks

October 17, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I struggle with this stoic because the two are be a good person and pursue the thing I was meant to do. The first one okay. The second one is harder for me because I don’t have a good understanding of what I was meant to do. I’m a very analytical thinker so some of this may be analysis paralysis. I have a lot of different interests and I get bored when I stick to just one thing. I’ve tried to stick to one thing and it hasn’t really worked out well for me mentally. Either I get bored or frustrated. Maybe that’s what I was meant to do. Explore a variety of different things.

The Fountain of Goodness

October 16, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is a good stoic for today. For whatever reason I have energy today. Part of the reason may be that the Astros one the first game of the ALCS. Another reason is that I wanted to have energy. I had things I needed to get done and I’m getting it done. I’m not accepting the thoughts of being lazy and just staying in or not doing what I need to do. Some of that may be from the run I had this morning as well. I’m trying to find something to do with the abundance of time I have.

I’ve been using it a lot for gaming and other fun stuff and maybe not enough on more productive things. It’s a tough balance because how much of the stuff I need to get done do I do? There’s always more. These reflections I think are helping me move in a better direction.

Show The Qualities You Were Made For

October 15, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I have a choice in how I respond to things. They can be either positive and virtuous or they can be negative and manipulative. It can be very hard to maintain a positive attitude in the work I do. It will take it’s toll and often I have to identify and call out myself when I shift towards a more negative and cynical nature. That can mean time off but I only get so many days a year, so I have to choose to not be that way.

It's Easy To Get Better. But Better At What?

October 14, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Self-improvement is something that I strive to do on a daily basis. I do need to re-examine what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. I feel like many are noble and worthy of pursuit but maybe not all of them. That will take some self reflection.

Daily Stoic(s)

October 13, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Yesterday - Marks Of The Good Life

This stoic gave me direction in realizing that all I need to do is live a good life. Some people find purpose. I’ve been lacking it a bit. I have recognized that working on myself and improving is a good purpose.

Today - Heroes, Here And Now

Future legacy means nothing to me. I’ll be gone and won’t care. I’m reminded of a Christopher Titus joke.
