Don't Sell Yourself Too Cheaply

December 2, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Thinking about how I spend my time. I do that a lot at work. I’m not sure I do it enough in my personal time. I don’t know that I necessarily waste it but am I putting it in the right place and being efficient with the time. It’s something I’ve started to ponder more.

Spendthrifts of Time

December 1, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is an interesting one for me because I see a lot of inefficiencies at work. I call them out but often nothing is done about them. This has led to frustration which I’m learning to let go because I am the one that controls my responses. It has made me question if my place of employment is the right place for me. Or do I try to continue to chip away at the inefficiencies? There’s no guarantee moving jobs will not lead to the same outcome. It’s something I’m constantly reflecting on. In the end I can’t control other people’s inefficiencies. I can control mine and I’m start to do that more.

Don't Hide From Your Feelings

November 30, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is a great time for this stoic. I feel like I’m processing a lot of emotions at this point. They all deal with work. I’m trying to figure out what’s next and if that’s where I want to go or be. I’m thinking a lot about it but I’m also not intentionally sitting down and processing.

The Cards We're Dealt

November 29, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I feel like I think about mortality quite a bit. I don’t know that it energizes me. It’s more of an acceptance.

The Sword Dangles Over You

November 28, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This to me is an external motivator. I’m not really all that motivated by external factors. Instead it’s more internal. I guess I could use this imaginary sword as an internal motivator. This idea of external and internal factors as motivators comes from the book Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin. It’s a book that helped me better understand why I do things a certain way. I can use that as my own self-motivator. An imaginary sword will work for some but not necessarily others.
