Life Is Long...If You Know How To Use It

December 18, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

There’s some powerful words here but no actual prescriptive on how we should use it. Now it does mention taking a moment which means to pause life and reflect. I think that’s important but what’s important to one person isn’t always important to others even from an ethical standpoint.

Don't Burn The Candles At Both Ends

December 17, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is an interesting stoicism to come up because other passages talk about not fettering away our time. Yet this one talks about allowing the mind to relax. It’s Friday and this has been an exhausting week so I am planning to try and relax a little. For me that means video games, books, and social interactions.

Daily Stoic(s)

December 16, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Yesterday - What Are You So Afraid Of Losing!

What am I protecting from death? Work, family, friends, alcohol, golf, video games, and reading. I’m trying to work more stoicism into all of that.

Today - Meaningless…Like A Fine Win

I am a filter for all the things mentioned above. They are temporary. If we are not to enjoy them then what is the purpose?

Stake Your Own Claim

December 14, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

My experiences are unique to me and something that I can share with others. I like speaking at conferences. Initially I was worried people wouldn’t care. That’s turned out not to be the case. I’ve had compliments and interesting conversations with people based on my talks. It’s been quite interesting. I’m actually starting to push the boundaries a little bit on some of my talks. Speaking up and calling out some of the faults we have.

What Do You Have To Show For Your Years?

December 13, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I feel like I have a problem with this stoicism because it’s not prescriptive. What counts as a lived life is different for everyone.
