Push For Deep Understanding

January 16, 2022

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Deep understanding comes from reading. I read quite a bit. Not as much as I’d like but i can usually finish a book or two a month. I’ve heard of people who do hundreds in a year. That’s not me but I’d certainly like to improve the number I read. I’ve found a lot of valuable insights from them and it’s a great way to help me fall asleep at night.

The Truth About Money

January 15, 2022

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I reached my career goals a few years ago when I was promoted to manager. I thought life would be great after that. It was actually the opposite. There was some struggle and frustration. I realized I no longer had that purpose I once thought. When you’re financially strapped and looking to improve your life you have a purpose. Once you meet that goal it opens up a bunch of different possibilities.

I thought I’d spend more time playing video games but they can get old after too much time with them. I am spending more time with my family but I had to break the habit of looking for the next thing. The stoic for today talks about how money doesn’t fix what’s internal. That’s what I’ve come to realize in the last couple years, my purpose. I now need to focus on fixing all of my internal issues (and there are a lot).

The Day In Review

January 14, 2022

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Reviewing the day sounds like a good idea. I’ve found with stoicism that I have to put my own spin on things for it to stick. I’ve tried some things that I’ve stopped doing and I’m doing other things that really stuck for whatever reason. This daily stoic is one of them. Though it can be at different times of the day. It’s just something to reflect on and apply to my life.

I like to read at the end of a day so that I can relax and put my mind at ease. I think I may need to start small.

Daily Stoic(s)

January 13, 2022

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Yesterday - Reignite Your Thoughts

I’ve experienced this recently, where I lost my way a bit. It was hard to get back into a stoic mindset again and took probably a little longer than I would have liked. It is nice to know that eventually I will get back to it even in tough times.

Today - A Morning Ritual

I’m starting to get into a little bit of a morning ritual. I think the problem is that my evenings can be a bit erratic. I’m not always going and finishing the day the same. This makes it tough to start the day the same way. I am working on it though and I’ve made significant progress since last year.

Wherever You Go, There Your Choice Is

January 11, 2022

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I’m trying to figure out how to make more positive choices when things aren’t going my way. It’s really hard and easy to get sucked into those bad times. Even telling my self I have a choice is difficult to myself out of a negative mindset. I think it’s a good opportunity to practice and eventually I will be able to break through and flip my mood.
