Don't Get Mad Help

October 6, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is a good stoic after an experience last night. I am not one to keep my mouth shut if someone is blaming others for why we’re losing a game. I’ll call out the fault with blaming. In gaming that certainly can backfire and it did last night. I myself got a little frustrated and I’m trying to remind my self of the Stoicisms I’ve read and strive to instill in myself. I’m human though and it can be hard to practice those prinicipals. I know I’ll eventually get over it and move on. I often feel sympathy for the person because they may just be having a bad day.

Revenge Is A Dish Best Not Served

October 5, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Taking the high road. It’s easy to say and hard to execute on. I deal with this in video games where a lot of trash talk and toxicity is passed around. Most times I shrug it off. Other times I can engage and seek revenge for certain comments made. It’s never really felt that great to respond in a vengeful way.

Daily Stoic(s)

October 3, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Friday - Set The Standards And Use Them

I’ve tried setting a standard for myself on many things. Often I can stick to it. Other times I can’t stick to it. When I’m not sticking to something it can usually come from a behavior I’m trying to improve. That takes work and patience.

Yesterday - Reverence and Justice

These are the standards or principle to live by. The author breaks it down to virtue. Which is to have high morals and standards. Setting those and figuring out what those might be can be tough. Past influences will set a lot of those standards. This is why I strive to improve myself daily. To look for that higher standard.

Today - Honesty As Our Default

To me this is just simply saying I don’t need to say I’m being honest. I just need to be honest and upfront with people about things. There’s no need for an announcement.

A Higher Pleasure

September 30, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Pleasure is something I continually work on. Video games and alcohol are pleasures of mine. Those can lead to missteps that affect my next day and week. I am trying to reel them in because I don’t like the results of those missteps. I’m a slow learner so it’s not going as quickly as I’d like. It is improving though and I have to remember that it took me seven years to quite smoking. These things are similar.
