I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I remember early in my career leaving a job and thinking, “man is this going to suck for them when I’m gone.” I have been counter-offered at every place I’ve worked. So I’d like to think I did some quality work at these places. I have no idea if it sucked or not. I know that they moved on and did just fine. There was not historic collapse. That put a lot of things in perspective for me regarding my career. I’m not as important as I think I am.

The same is true for life. Which has brought up thoughts of, “what’s the point.” Not in suicidal way. More in a what’s my purpose. I don’t need to leave a lasting impression on the world or become famous. I’m happy to just live and enjoy life. What does that actually mean, though? Why are we born? Grow and learn and then die? Where is that purpose.
