Good Habits Drive Out Bad Habits

October 11, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This has been a struggle for me with adult beverages. The opposite of drinking is not drinking which is a really bad habit to break. I had a similar issue with smoking. I eventually kicked that habit and I know I can kick drinking. Though the difference is that I don’t know that I’ll entirely eliminate it. I do enjoy it. It’s just the over indulgence of it that’s a problem. I have made great strides, so I have to be patient.

Frenemies

October 10, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I try to be straight forward with people. I don’t like talking behind someone’s back because I feel like I should have said it to them. It can be a difficult conversation but it needs to happen.

Daily Stoic(s)

October 9, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Yesterday - Spread The Word

Stoicism has helped me tremendously. I sleep much better and have less stress. I’ve shared some of these things with others as appropriate. Some take it and run with it while others only take a glance and move on.

Today - The Benefit of Kindness

Being kind is always a good practice. I have to remind myself of this regularly because I get away from it in my interactions with people. Sometimes I won’t be as kind and later recognize that I could have been kinder. It takes some focus and a lot of practice.

Give People The Benefit Of The Doubt

October 7, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I feel like I do a good job of giving people the benefit of the doubt. For work I don’t take things personally. I get along with people just fine and I also disagree with those people. We eventually work things out even if it’s an agreeable disagreement. One of the things I’ve done while driving is recognizing that people in a hurry might be rushing to an emergency. They’re stressed and so I look for the opportunity to get out of their way as soon as possible. They’re driving fast for a reason. It might be a good one but it could also be a stressful one.

Don't Get Mad Help

October 6, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is a good stoic after an experience last night. I am not one to keep my mouth shut if someone is blaming others for why we’re losing a game. I’ll call out the fault with blaming. In gaming that certainly can backfire and it did last night. I myself got a little frustrated and I’m trying to remind my self of the Stoicisms I’ve read and strive to instill in myself. I’m human though and it can be hard to practice those prinicipals. I know I’ll eventually get over it and move on. I often feel sympathy for the person because they may just be having a bad day.
