Who Gets The Lion's Share?

October 22, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is something I’ve gotten better at. Reading instead of playing video games or watching TV. I still try to do it before bed. I watch sports though and that’s not always doable. I’ve started taking more time directly after work to read. The reason why I’m doing this stoic now is because I have a fairly packed day today and I may come home and forget to sit down and do this. I’ve made that choice to do this now and get my study in rather than waiting until later when I’m distracted or even tomorrow when I remember I didn’t do it. It takes effort but I’m happy at the progress so far and plan to improve it further.

Character Is Fate

October 21, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

This is right up my alley with hiring. I look at behaviors and who the person is not what they know. Often people in my industry interview candidates by looking at their technical prowess. Then they struggle with the person because of other poor behaviors or attitudes. Critical thinking is a big one I hear a lot of people complain about. How do you teach that? I believe we have to look for it in the interview process because that will dictate a lot of their success.

We Were Made For Each Other

October 20, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

Sometimes I don’t want to be around other people. Other times I’m energized by being around other people. Even during the pandemic I notice that people who identified as introverts were yearning for some sort of social interaction. It seems we’re starting to get back to that type of society. One without Zoom or computer screens.

We Reap What We Sow

October 19, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

It’s good to have a moral compass because things have a way of coming around. This is both good and bad. I always try to lean towards the good because I know it can return in my favor even though at the time it might not be in my favor. This is the basis of reciprocity. Giving without expecting something in return. It can help build strong relationships with others. There are those who will take advantage of that. Ultimately they end on the wrong side of taking advantage in the end. That can be external or internally inflicted.

Three Parts One Aim

October 18, 2021

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

The moral, the natural, and the rational allow me to live a good life. I don’t have really much to add to this one. I think they’re great guiding principals.
