I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.
Interesting thought exercise from the stoic today. What if we were to just be instead of have opinions. Opinions are shaped by our beliefs and how we grew up. They often lead to unwelcome emotions like anger and hatred. What if instead we just are and not worry about our opinions. We take each situation as it’s own unique experience. Going through coronavirus, I’ve had my opinions. It’s not a popular one because others have a very different opinion of how things are handled. I hop on Twitter and there’s a lot of negative opinions about the situation. I usually only stay on for a short period of time, so as to avoid my own negative emotions.
Instead what I’m going to try to do is leave my opinions out of life. My opinions about people and situations. Instead look at it from a just being who or what they are. I’m curious how much less negativity I’d have in my life. I won’t be perfect because I’m human. Then again maybe that’s an opinion also.,
