You Can't Always (Be) Get(ting) What You Want

February 21, 2022

I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.

I believe it was Ryan Haliday that recently said you can have two of these three things. Family, work, and the scene. You get to choose two. You can’t have all three. It’s an interesting mind exercise. I enjoy hanging out with friends and I enjoy hanging out with the family. That leaves work as the odd man out and I’m okay with that.

That doesn’t mean I stop working. It just means I maybe do put in those extra hours. Or even for me get worked up about something. I tend to find issues at work and will point them out. That doesn’t always end well for me, so maybe I need to learn to be satisfied with those 40 hours.
